that is totally worth a shot thanks!Pepe wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 6:24 amWhen I had the Frankenstein FZ-2 at home I tried to remove the blue colour of the CH-1 chassis with a chemical paint stripper. It just didn't work! But removing old lacquer coats on a door or on that old KORG CX-3 organ that was once amateurishly painted black worked like a charm!
Maybe you can use paint stripper on this CE-2 and with some luck the old colour remains intact.

Re: New BOSS pedals!
If the pedal hasn't been sanded off before the paint job, that is.
Re: New BOSS pedals!
Had this fall into my lap for $100.

Wow!!!
Re: New BOSS pedals!
I'm curious what you think of the models in the IR2, zentropa.
I was presuming "Twn" "Tweed" "Crunch" and "Brit" would be my jams, but no...
"Clean" and "Modded" sound/perform best for me. Funny, both are BOSS/Roland MDP creations.

Re: New BOSS pedals!
I just found a receipt inside the pedal dated 1982 so you are spot on.
I just wanted to add, about the mentioned CE-2 mods, 9V is a no brainer, but I reversed the "depth mod" (c22). raising C22 only increases depth by increasing overall delay time, and seems to lose the distinct CE-2 flavor in my opinion. I did change R32 from 1M to 470k adds just enough speed for a leslie sim.
Re: New BOSS pedals!
I only gave it a brief 10 minute test run with headphones to make sure it worked.
My after spending like 30 seconds each on all of them and more like 1-2 minutes on the ones I liked.
Clean is good. Soldano is decent. Modded fits my playstyle better but sounds very artificial to me under headphones.
The EQing on some isn't super. At times I found the mids knob to inject a lot of bass in a bad way.
Should have more thoughts on it later.

Re: New BOSS pedals!
I was hoping the "soldano" was notable, coming from the GT multifx and SLDN is usually one of the stock models I like on low gain (which is probably not how youre supposed to use the real thing!) and then I try to beat that sound with the custom preamp features. Ive heard a lot of good things about IR-2 nice score!zentropa wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2024 2:35 pm

it was as very slim carbon copy paper I thought it was just a layer of insulation but it was folded up. may '82 someone bought a Ross Flanger and Boss CE-2 for $250 total, so these things were always pretty expensive!
