Is there much of a sound difference between the earlier CE-2s with the 3007 chip, and the later ones with 3207?

EDIT: I've just been reading conflicting opinions on this chip business. Is it even true that the later ones changed to a 3207?

I've had the early long dash CE-2 and my green label MIT at the same time and they sounded exactly the same. I sold the silver screw for bank and kept the MIT. I have pics somewhere of the innards of both, but can't find where they are.

My records show that every CE-2 I've ever owned, MIJ or MIT has used the MN3007.

Maybe the chipset changed when the made the CE-3 which I thought sounded icy rather than warm like the CE-2.

On the Bossarea forum I remember a discussion, why the older CE-2 soundet better than the later MIT (IF they do....).
The reason for differences, according to someone, was that the internal trim pots had to be carefully adjusted (at the factory!) to sound the best, and that this operation was time consuming.
I´ve also heard that we should not temper with those trim pots......

Does the CE-2B use the same chip as the CE-2?

Yes, I am pretty sure that every unit has the same chip.

Just for fun (don't judge me ), I opened my CE-2 "family" and confirm that all of them uses the 3007 chip, although from 2 different manufacturers, the early ones MIJ comes with a Matsushita/Panasonic* set (MN3007 and MN3101) and the MIT (green label) has a Motorola pair.

The opamps are also the same (4558), but here there are 3 variants: JRC4558D, NEC c4558c (chips MIJ) and JRC4558DD (chip MIT), in the order of appearance.

The only variant still missing in my collection is the MIJ green label.
