The "transistors" are the phasing FETs. What part number are they?
The 10uF capacitors should be OK as electrolytics...

Re: New (broken) pedal day!
The old JFETs are 5952, the new ones BF245B.
I have new 10µF 16V tantalum capacitors at hand to replace the electrolytic capacitors.

Re: New (broken) pedal day!
The pedal does now look very clean. I have replaced the components and resoldered every trace. The phaser works.
But it is distorting.
Since a previous owner has messed with it already, there was no shielding and the original JFETs were rattling inside, could it be that the two sn72l022p opamps need to replaced, Laurie? Are TL022CP opamps the correct equivalent?
Or is there anything else that I should check first? I resoldered every connection and the traces of the PCB twice.

Re: New (broken) pedal day!
No, it is a very strong distortion, not too unpleasant sounding to be honest, but definitely not normal. That shouldn't happen with single coils.

What is the nature of the distortion?Pepe wrote: ↑Sat Mar 29, 2025 3:11 pmThe pedal does now look very clean. I have replaced the components and resoldered every trace. The phaser works.

Is it ok at low volume, but creeps in as you raise the level?
It it soft or hard distortion?
Any change to the distortion as you change the knob?

Re: New (broken) pedal day!
I would call the distortion medium and it is constantly there, completely regardless of the input volume. The batteries that I have tested are full. The knob changes the speed of the phaser, but it has no effect whatsoever on the sound of the distortion.
It sounds like it is distorting before the phaser effect, as if I had put a dirt pedal in front of the pedal. And the bypass sound is a little bit louder than the activated distorting Phase 45.

Re: New (broken) pedal day!
I could swap the JFETs again, but could that really help identifying the problem?
