Hello There Have Been Some Changes......
Hello There Have Been Some Changes......
Hello Everyone,
It has been a long time since my last post, must have been sometime in 2022.....
Okay there have been a lot of changes, the biggest one: relocation to the Netherlands, mainly because of family reasons.
I am trying to get back what I had in the UK, and it is working, slowly but it is coming. Anyway, life is different here, I cannot believe how things are in the Netherlands, it feels at times like I am a foreigner in my own country.....
I have to give my thanks to Laurie for getting the DF-2 back in shape. Still use the pedal from time to time instead of the Rat. It is the sound of the DS1 which is a unique distortion to my ears, together with the TS. But let us not get into distortion/overdrive discussion, because so much depends on how you use them and how you play.
Have there been any new pedals you may wonder? No, I am playing with what I have, and still discover new things, applications I should say, I can do with the ones I have.
On my board are, since late 2020: The Rat, DD2, Double Drive and the DD7, Sometimes the RC 2. Nothing special really, the weird sounds come purely from playing and imagination.
What is new is a rehearsal space which is large. I can use my stage amps at higher volume and they sound fantastic in the room I am using.
The drums as well: Adjust the volume to the room. I have been playing drums for a while, but since 2021 been playing daily and that makes the change. Enjoy it more and also work a lot with tuning and what you can to make the drums sound like you want to. Just like with anything musical, your ears will adjust to any changes you make.
I create loops daily with Bass and Guitar, and play the drums to the loops. Try to keep the sound not too static. Great Sound!!
I am happy that for some reason the forum is again called BossAreaForum, since I had forgotten the name, maybe a bit silly, but then again, there have been lots of changes and the days are crazy, but I can manage and enjoy things as they are.
I have a new site, trying to go with the theme of the old one, which is still alive. It is now: https://gitaarlesmiddelburg.nl/
It is my intention to visit more often. I have noticed some people from the past have been around as well. All good to see that the forum is still here.
Alright, well all the best to all of you and hope you enjoy making music and using your pedals to the best of your ability.
Cheers,
Eddie

Hi, Eddie! Great seeing you back again! No joke: just yesterday I stumbled over one of your postings and then I looked up when you've been online for the last time (2022 as you said).

Welcome back!
I used to tour extensively through The Netherlands and Belgium from 2006-2012, and really connected with NL.
Though the distance from the UK to NL is pretty short, they are very different places, as you clearly know.
From what I understand, The NL has changed in the last decade or so, and can understand how it might feel quite different than it was.

Hi Doc, yeah making music is part of how I live, and have done for quite some time. The teaching feels similar as it was in the UK once you have students. Most of them are devoted to music and gear and other things related to music. On the whole, most of my students are devoted to making music, which makes teaching more fun.

Yes it has changed, but life has changed for all of us. When you are in a particular place you change within the place, in my case, maybe I think of how things used to be here. Overall, I think the mentality here is different, and has always been. Of course, once you meet people in your field, in your case, the guys you met around you during your tours, you will meet a lot of like-minded people. But the average joe in the street seem to be a bit different here. A good example is how the super markets feel, the once where you shop for your food. Here it is quiet, even though the shop may be full of people, no one seem to talk to each other. In the UK, there was a vibe in the super market, a buzz, which made doing shopping more fun. These are all little things, I do notice them, but overall life is fine and people are ok, they just behave a bit different.bigtone23 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 01, 2024 5:04 amWelcome back!

Yes I do have a good memory. We all met sometime around 2004 when the Boss forum got its starting point. Hey it could be 2005? Who will know eh? There was no serial number decoder yet, and we were talking about variants in the various pedals people had. It was a primitive way to build up a time line for all the various boss pedal throughout the year. It did not take all that long before someone came up with the decoder. A marvel in itself isn't it?
Anyway all good. It has been sometime before I could reply. I have some more boss related issues but will post them in a separate post, since it is related to a pedal.
Cheers!
