Thanks for the responses, guys.
I assume that I need to remove the batteries from the pedals if I want to leave them all hooked up in the case, correct?
If I don't, I imagine the batteries will be drained due to the patch cables in the input jacks?
Yes indeed.
If you've got the 9V daisy chain cable connected, doesn't it disconnect the batteries?
Yes. But if you forget they are in the pedals...

Oh yeah! I wasn't suggesting leaving them in indefinitely. Just that I didn't think they'd drain in the short/medium term if you had the daisy chain cable connected.

You are quite correct. But I'm the type of person who would forget they had a bicycle on the roof racks and hit my garage door with it, so tend to be obsessive about managing risk.

Isn't that
only when the power is actually plugged into the wall though? (Electricity is flowing to the pedals via the daisy chain cords)
I'm actually more concerned about the batteries in the pedals if they are stored in the pedalboard with all of the patch cords (and yes, daisy chain power cords) still together. (And yet, there is no connection to the actual wall power)
So, what's the verdict here? If the pedals are stored in the pedalboard with all of the cords still hooked up, but the power cord isn't plugged into the wall, will the batteries be drained?

No.
Really? Cool!

How does that work?
The mechanical joint made with an un-powered daisy chain cord into the back of a pedal still disconnects the batteries? (With the patch cords still hooked up to the pedals, as well?)

Inserting a power connector into the DC power jack physically opens the switch contacts. This is a mechanical effect, no power is required.
