New Non-BOSS Pedals
Re: New Non-BOSS Pedals
I got tired of waiting for Boss to produce a Univibe type pedal in compact form. So I bought this instead and I am so pleased ! It hits my Robin Trower urge head on
Lovin’ it.

I like the old RATs
I like the newer Hi-Fi RATs also, like the Arc Effects Soothsayer/Woodcutter
I had an Arc Woodcutter, which I loved. Sold it in exchange for a guitar set-up. Always regretted that
here is a new (to me, secondhand) Dazatronyx version, an Australian build

Re: New Non-BOSS Pedals
I sold my vintage Rat pedals about 10 years ago. There are days when I wish I still had one of them
Nice looking pedal!

Re: New Non-BOSS Pedals
I sold my very old big box rat for stupid amount of minry a couple of years ago. It sounded the same as my early 90s unit
and the Dazatronyx sounds the same as the early 90s unit too across the sweep of all dials (inc. volume) on the stock RAT setting
there are dip switches inside for a lower gain germanium circuit, and some glass clipping diodey things - neither of which I have tried yet
very cool pedal

I landed on a '91 Woodcutter RAT about 8 years ago for $50. I really liked it as it was, but after doing the resistor clip (Ruetz mod done with clippers through the battery compartment), it's perfect now. The lowered gain and boosted low end is more my style (single coil guy).

Re: New Non-BOSS Pedals
A new pedal from the maker of the crazy Seppuku effects! Rhys I. Gillespie lives in New Zealand now and he has recently started making stompboxes again. This is a very melodic sounding waveshaper that can be mixed with a nice pre-amp. I haven't had the chance to play more than five minutes with it, but so far it made some very cool sounds with nice harmonics. It can sound like a pure fuzz with a little extra on top. Not an octave-up fuzz ... it's a bit different. I'll have lots of fun with it for sure!

www.rhysi.com wrote: Shring contains a preamp with gain control and a three fold waveshaper with final signal mixing stage.
The wavefolding creates strong even harmonics that sound similar to fm synthesis but arived at with a subtler aparatus.
Higher harmonics accumulate with increased gain settings and react dynamicaly to input amplitude, unfolding and sweeping through the harmonic feild as the signal decays.
Playing more than one note at a time increases the complexity of intermodulation. Note combinations create clangourous and bellish overtones that can be subtle or pushed to the extreme with very little fundamental remaining.

Nice that you enjoy it.
I looked for information about it, but found very few.
It's not my "pint of beer" but beautiful etching work, very tasteful.
There is this hypnotic YT video :

Re: New Non-BOSS Pedals
I sold the BOSS OD-20 that I purchased recently and picked up a nice looking Deucetone RAT in the original box at a second hand shop.
I haven't tried it through my amp yet, but I had lots of fun through my headphones already. Well, at least when the 3PDT of the Channel B started working again. It was very reliable in the end, but I hope I won't need to replace this switch to have a fail-safe pedal for the stage.
It's cool to have all the RAT variants in one box: Vintage RAT, Turbo RAT, Dirty RAT and the Deucetone-exclusive Clean RAT.
Pictures will follow. I have to give it a proper cleaning first.
