I had a GE-10 years ago. A bit of a beast :) (in a good way)

Can't go wrong with a MIJ SD-1. Picked one up myself a couple of months ago - went straight on the board.

Actually just remembered I also picked up an SD-1 MIJ circuit board/parts for a couple of hundred yen too a month or so back, worth it for the original "TS" type chip on there alone. I have pondered a Tubescreamer purchase and transplanting a period correct chip into a newer TS reissue would be nicely budget friendly.

I have yet to peek inside the new SD-1 or indeed in my others, time being tight, but I'm curious. possible I may mod the new one to bring in the symetric clipping of a TS with a switch. Maybe!

New toys just arrived for a weekend of great fun. 🤗

Finally my RE-2 is here, at first I didn't believe it was for real, but I'm so glad I was wrong.

Another SD-1. How many is enough? This time is an "oddball", that MIJ with MIT pcb, 6 digits stamped batch number.

And the last missing TW-1 variant.

Thanks Doc, but today I had no time to play, maybe tomorrow after the F1.

I received a BOSS ODB-3 Bass Overdrive today. The third one that fell into my hands. I sold my last exemplar 13 years ago. That was when I didn't have an own guitar amp.

I always thought that guitar through an ODB-3 sounds awful, but through my Marshall tube amp it's not too bad at all. What's still bad is that the high EQ is totally harsh if turned higher than 11:00h. Mixing the (due to the tamed high EQ knob rather muffled) clean guitar signal with warm and slightly overdriven effect sound is really nice.

But I still don't like it too much with a bass guitar.

I only really like the ODB-3 for synthy type tones. The low end bloom is great for that.

Yes, I know what you mean. The tube-like overdriven sound is not the strength of the ODB-3, but it can do that really fat and brutal stuff. Too bad that it is not what I expect from such an overdrive.
