Got one!
Of course, got out the small mixer, ABY box and headphones and compared it directly to my Sustainor 200 and Stereo Chorus Rockmodules.
The vibe is there, in spades.
The MX100 is smoother, more refined. Not sure how much of that is baked in vs my modules being 35 years old and still fully stock.
The MX100
seems to be voiced to be ran in front of a typical guitar amp. The modules have more low end and
slightly less mids. When the lows were boosted (about 8-10dB @ 80Hz), the pedal sounded closer to the modules. This is good if you have it on your pedalboard and need to access the clean or dirty Rockman tones for a song or two in your set.
The most noticeable difference is Clean 2 is not nearly as chimey/bright as the original Rockman products. The other 3 modes are close enough for RnR!
Any type of momentary switch works for scrolling through the modes.
Also, going inside, flipping the switch to "stereo" mode, turning up the output volume and plugging headphones into the output jack does result in a cursory, though anemic, headphone amp. Clearly, the impedance and output is not ideal with headphones, but it does work.
