Boss Microrack Rack Adapter

Post by Joske Turbo » Tue May 17, 2022 2:36 pm

Hi forum friends!

I have a couple of Boss Microracks in my synth effects setup, and am looking to put al those effects in a 19 inch rack for convenience, so I can put my screen on top.

Does anyone have any experience with rack mounting adapters for this series? Would something generic like this work?

Thanks a bunch!

This could work, but the Micro Rack units are a lot shorter. Sadly the original Roland RAD-50 are not in production anymore and the few ones for sale out there have massively increased in price.

Yes, I know they are shorter, not really a problem for me as the rack will be deep enough and it won't be visible anyway.
Prices for the RAD-50 are indeed ridiculous for such a thing, guess I'll have to take the plunge and see if this fits.
I'll report back once I know! :)

The generic one should work. Might need to drill holes in the shelf to match the screw holes on the bottom of the Micro Rack units.

FYI: the generic rackshelves work like a charm, there's a hole to mount the Microracks without extra drilling.

Small question: does anyone here happen to know if there is space saved inside for the screw that mounts it to the shelf?
Just to be sure that I don't touch any of the circuit with the screw. Thanks!

There are a few millimetres of space inside, but I don't know how much there is in each Micro Rack unit. I would recommend to open the chassis with the four screws (two on each side) and to look inside. In general I would use very short screws to fit the units in the rack shelve, if you don't have the original screw.
