Joske Turbo: does your guitar have pickups with very high output? This can cause distortion in many situations where pedals work like a charm with standard pickups.

No it doesn't, it's a Fender Cyclone and I always use the single coil neck pickup so that shouldn't be the problem I guess.

Hello,

A bit late, did you pull the trigger?

I'll dig out my Phase 5 in the next few days.

I love the "advanced" features which are now just becoming available on boutique pedals, such as the touch sensitivity control, the harder you play, the more phasing, genius! to be fair I haven't played it that much. Two speeds for a Leslie ramp is also great.

It is similar in the at "sweet", "70s", "funky" tone that all Roland BOSS phasers inhabit sound wise.

Notable vintage phasers, the Pearl PH-03 and 44, regarded as the best phaser(s) ever by Mr ZVEX himself!

I regret not getting a Block logo vintage 100 MXR cheap a few years back, it sounded heavenly, lush almost chorusy, all the complimentary adjectives!

For the record here's my newly catalogued phaser collection:
  • Big Jam Bi-Phase
    BOSS PH-1 Phaser
    BOSS PH-1R Phaser
    BOSS PH-3 Phaser (junk)
    Electro-Harmonix Small Stone
    Guyatone PS-2 Phase Shifter (Micro)
    Guyatone PS-007 Phaser x2
    Guyatone PS-101 Phase Sonix x2
    Ibanez PH-99 Classic Phaser
    Ibanez FP-777 Flying Pan (Reissue)
    Jen KPS Phase Shifter
    Malekko Omicron Phaser
    Maxon PT-9 Pro (Orange)
    Maxon PT-909 (Small box)
    Maxon PT-909 (Big box)
    Morley Phaser 1
    Pearl PH-03 Phaser
    Pearl PH-44 Phaser
    Roland AP-2 Phaser
    Roland AP-5 Phaser
    SIB! Mr. Fazeadelic
    Yamaha PH-01 Phaser
Recently sold a Maxon PH-350 Rotary Phaser too, smooth and clean that one.

Ah! You also have the Yamaha PH-01. I have the same unit in the KORG incarnation: the KORG PHS-1. It has a very sweet and gentle tone. I wanted to do a demo of it all the last years ... like so many others. ;)

Hi fuzzbuzzfuzz, no I waited too long sadly and it was gone! The PH-3 that I had on the way is now officially declared lost so bummer, but I'm keeping an eye open for that one or the bigger brother. I'm gonna try out a Luck Duck Pedals Nu-Tron soon, which is apparently a clone of the infamous Mu-Tron II, really curious for that one!

Ah, alas!

There is one on Digimart.net for around 300 dollars/30,000 yen I note.

My PH-3 is sadly plagued by selector knob failure (never trust those ones!), I wish I knew where to get a replacement..

Good luck with the Mutron, my Big Jam Spit-Wahs are apparently similar copies, funky!

Yes indeed, to be fair I have spent little time with it, I should dig it out.

I almost picked up a Coron phaser that had a similar two-knob layout however I hesitated as the sound was very similar and I'm well stocked for phasing!

Oddly I'm not a huge Phase 90 fan ;)

The most recent is The Ibanez PH-99, that whole chrome series seems to fly under the radar but have very nice circuits.

btw Pepe, I bought something last weekend that will blow your socks off! Its a big box - like a tape echo but not one, 1970s 70s, colourful with a footswitch unit. Can you guess? ;)

Yesterday I received an early SS PH-1R. It needs a bit care, though (new battery clip and DC jack). So far it sounds very nice, but with less resonant sounds than I expected.
