a simple mod for more volume on a DS-1

I just wanted to share some findings and opinions. simply changing the clipping diodes changes the volume as well as the max gain. If you notice the forward voltage you are dialing the volume and headroom at the same time.
red LED = between 1.7v and 2.0v
really cool, great mod, crazy loud but in my opinion the gain stays just shy of the DS-1 white noise sound wash I want
2x silicon diodes = ~ 1.4v
as expected doubles the volume and retains the DS-1 sound well enough. easy too!
silicon + germanium diode = ~ 10v
takes a little more effort because you have to match the germanium diodes but this is the solution in my opinion. just a good enough volume bump
silicon diode (stock)= ~ 0.7v
what I want out of a DS-1 but it is often a notch too quiet for hot pickups
germanium diode = ~ 0.3v
I haven't tried but I'm expecting its probably too quiet and adds pointless extra distortion?
