Boss Pedals for 2023 Speculation

Post by BearBoy » Thu Jan 12, 2023 9:15 pm

So in 2022 we got (if memory serves correctly..)
  • RE-2 (and its big brother: RE-202)
  • DS-1w
  • SL-2
  • HM-2w (this was announced ages ago but I think only actually got released in 2022?)
What do people think/hope we might see on the pedal front from Boss in 2023?

A Waza Phaser or Flanger?
Something else in the RE-202 enclosure?
A new Tremolo with panning?
Something for the bassists?

VG-2. Alternate tunings (maybe in the form of the rc-5 with a screen and encoder.
Sound like Joni mitchel. Sonic youth or my bloody valentine. :)

I honestly wonder how likely we can expect an RT-2 compact rotary, I love rotary

not sure flanger is ever popular but how about BF-5 digital flanger? has standard/turbo modes also tape sim and through zero options

poly retune would be nuts, I think the line 6 variax had that(?) it could theoretically open some doors imagine simply being able to open tuning for a little and getting back to standard mid song

I bet there is a PH-1R/W or an SG-1W coming.

The Roland VG80 and VG88 also had it but they need an GK element. I hope it is possible now without the GK element.

I can see a Waza Phaser happening. Perhaps a BF2W, but it seems the phaser would have a wider market..?
Would love to see a SD2W.
But, what do I know? I wouldn't have guessed the TB2W, as it was fully left field.

I'm betting a PH-1R/W with a switch for an AP-2 mode.

I think I'd be inclined to grab one of those if it ever appeared.

That would be pretty amazing. I think the SY1000 can apply per string alternate tuning but it still needs a GK pickup for that?

Same. Maybe using the more flexible ES-8 derived switching from the JB-2? In fact, I'd like to see more dual drive pedals along the lines of the JB-2, mixing different Boss overdrives/distortions.

I would faint if they did the SD2W with "Standard" mode being stock green and red tones, while "Custom" would change them to SD1 and OD3 sounding modes.
