have you / would you ever do any of these?

I have a vintage BF-2 I'm wondering if it needs the cap upgrade for starters I don't like the flashing LED stuff personally

I'm not sure the BF-2 really needs any mods. A lot of the descriptions sound like marketing-speak, not actually fixing a real problem.

true, do you think recapping is a good idea though?

No - not unless one of them has actually failed. It will lose character.

I agree with Laurie. The BF2 really doesn't need mods. It's thing is that brighter flange tone (which I find glorious in front of the drives/distortions). There are other flanges out there if one wants a different tone. I have a 78 ADA and 78 Electric Mistress for those other flange sounds.

I would like to mod the LED so it pulses with the modulation speed, though. I kinda like that aspect. My modded CE2B does that.

Replacing the caps (in theory) would bring it back to how it sounded "as new", but of course we do quite like the darker, duller, murkier tones that a few decades has put on them age wise, mojo!

For some other units the mods can be quite useful (GE-7 operational noise etc., TR-2 rate/led mod). I don't really recall any complaints regarding the original BF-2. Robert Smith/Graham Coxon in a box

For a different vibe perhaps save the mod money and invest in a HF-2 :D

I was actually looking at it, the schematics are identical might be able to socket the MN3207 and drop in a MN3204 to make it a HF-2. unless there is some other complication I'm unaware of, like the biasing needs to be reset, I wonder if there is some way to hot swap them with a switch

I've always thought that would be a good idea for a BF-2w.
