Fuzz and Octaver with SYB-3

SYB is not only a great synthesizer, it also have distorted sounds, wah, and low octave synth sound to create an octaver effect.

I have two SYB, one is dedicated to Fuzz and Octaver, with one setting, just have to change modes : mode 8 = Fuzz, mode 4 = Octaver. So with only one setting I have two effects in one pedal and I can quickly change.

Never tried with another bass than mine, however. Can you test it and tell if it works for you with a guitar or a bass ?

(edit : don't know why the pictures are doubled in the post, sorry...)

I might try that in the next days. Send me a PM in the case that I should forget it. So much to do at the moment ...

yeah I will report back too I remember I have a setting that pretty much works for all the modes cross the board but then I noticed the filter in the fuzz+autowah responds differently than the filter in the autowah only!

Using the wah and waveshaper modes from time to time only can be tricky. I tend to use the standard synth sounds. The waveshaper modes behave so differently. I always get some controls mixed up at the beginning. ;)

SYB-3 has been on my radar for a while but I ahd never looked closely enough to see the inclusion of an octaver part, good news! ;)

I assume its mono-phonic?

I'll pick one up ASAP :D

It has two outputs, A (Mono) and B so I would assume stereo out is possible using both outputs.

The modes 1 to 7 are monophonic and you have to play very accurate or it will mess up your sound (very much like an analogue octaver). The T Wah and Wave Shape modes can be played by any instrument and with as many tones at once.

just wanted to add that the synth tracking is very entertaining if you run a drum machine through it

I do run a drum machine through it, since I have it (1996) and play electronic music with that set up.

I just tested your suggested modes. The octaver mode (4) works great with all my electric guitars (Fender Stratocaster, Dean Vendetta with humbuckers, Squier Jazz Bass). The fuzz mode (8) drops off very quickly. I got better results with higher SENS values. But overall it works just like you said.
