Boss Gt1000core midi sync issue

how do I slave the Boss gt1000core to the midi clock of an Mpc Live?
I went to gt1000core menu, system, midi and enabled clock midi (auto).
The Mpc is sending the clock because if I connect a Boss looper Rc202 it syncs perfectly and also starts playing as I push play on Mpc.
If I connect the trs midi on the same Mpc midi port to Gt1000core midi in with clock midi (auto) enabled, nothing happens.
I tried to enable and disable omni, I tried changing midi channel, nothing happens.
What am I missing?
