As a Space Echo (tape) owner, this is the ONLY unit I've ever played that's even remotely in the ballpark as the pre-amp is correct and that's a huge portion of the sound.

Wonder if an RE-200 (or RE-2) is on the cards?
I've not looked into them too much but do the tape modes on the DD-200 and DD-500 cover this sort of sound?

I used to have both an actual vintage Boss tape echo (can't recall which model exactly - it was over 12 years ago), and an RE-20.
I ended up selling them both because I couldn't justify the cost of them - I can't recall what i bought with the cash, but it would have been something interesting
I've been using the analog mode on my DD-7 and am quite happy with it.

tape modes are lovely on DD-500 but you won't get the preamp or the extra spring reverb from the RE-20.

Cheers Chromandre. I wasn't sure whether that sort of stuff was buried in the menus somewhere and, weirdly, the user manual isn't available on the Boss UK website.
Pepe, did you ever do a demo of the RE-20?

Sorry, I have never had an RE-20 (only the RT-20).

Hmmm ... I doubt it. Everything above 100 EUR is a bit too much at the moment. I cannot justify purchasing a pedal in the 200 EUR range. My wife would be mad.
