OD-2 vs OD-2r Output
I know This has been covered before and I didn’t see all the mods concerning this issue but I was wondering if the mod to fix the output of the OD-2 was only in turbo mode or overall?
Re: OD-2 vs OD-2r Output
I found a mod for boosting Turbo mode. Jumper R62, IIRC... I did it, it's subtle, but helps.
I really like the tone of my OD2, but I do have the volume on 10 to get my slightly lower gain setting to balance with bypass mode (using medium hot single coils). I have considered getting an OD2r for that reason.

Re: OD-2 vs OD-2r Output
The OD-2R has almost twice the volume of its predecessor. I have only heard of this slight modification for the Turbo mode.

Thank you for
Your reply!
Sounds like I’ll be getting a OD-2r in the future, lol
Has anyone compared schematics between the two to compare output sections? I’m no good with schematics so I haven’t looked, Lol

Re: OD-2 vs OD-2r Output
Well, I have a OD2r on the way. I really like the tonality of the OD2. If the OD2r is more or less similar sounding to the OD2, I’m gonna love it. I’m seemingly able to get my sound with most any pedal.
It’s arriving Thursday. More news this weekend!

Re: OD-2 vs OD-2r Output
Enjoy the volume! For me the standard OD-2 has not a single benefit, but some users somehow hear a difference in the overall sound.
Re: OD-2 vs OD-2r Output
Got it today!
Initial comparisons of the March 86 OD2 (with a mod to give a little more level to Turbo mode) to my March 97 OD2r. Done at low volume through my Marshall Lead 12-since the wife is asleep upstairs. However, tomorrow night is loud with big amps!
With this situation, they do sound the same. Using the same settings throughout the range of the knobs on both modes do show how well the BOSS engineers can keep it consistent! My favorite setting on the OD2 is turbo mode, level maxed, tone at 11 o’clock and drive at 9 o’clock. Got an exact match with the same settings on the OD2r, but with the level at 11 o’clock.
I already know I prefer the OD2r for the level fix, remote mode switching and stock PSA configuration.
