Is the PW-2 kind of like a single mode SD-2 with Bass and Mid controls?

Not really. Is monumentally heavy. I like it, but only in small doses.

I believe it is based on a fuzz circuit.
I had one, but I'm not a big fan of fuzz boxes so I ended up getting rid of it.

Interesting...I saw a glowing Pete Thorn review of the OD-200 today and he said the "Stack" setting reminds him of his PW-2, which he descibed as one of his favorite Marshall in a box pedals.

I don't really think that the PW-2 can be described as a Marshall in a box. At least not in the way we used to talk about that (Plexi, JCM-800, ...). Maybe he meant that it sounds like a Big Muff Pi through a Marshall amp? Because although it says "Driver" on the treadle it has nothing to do with standard overdrive in my book. The lowest gain settings are already heavily overdriven as you can hear in my old (quite bad) demo at YT.

I have a PW-2. Played around with it for an hour and put it with my other Boss pedals. I like my SD-2 though. Heads up, there's 2 versions of the SD-2 if you're a fan. The newer version has more clarity if memory serves me correct.
