The Loop Stations are interesting. I'll stay with my recently acquired RC-3, but the new ones look promising. I bet that they are easier to control with that display. I could imagine a follow-up model of the SYB-5 to look very much like the RC-5.

Yeah, the display on the RC-5 looks like a great idea. Not sure I can justify upgrading from my RC-3 though.

strong agree. I've relied so heavily on the rc-3 over the years as a riff holder for scratch recordings. RC-5 is 32bit recordings but I honestly think I've even come to enjoy the RC-3's low headroom.

ah, well, this might just be a me-only issue, but I'm disappointed it seems the rc-500 simply isn't designed to do loop retrigger function. The retrigger is my favorite feature of the DD-500 looper, I don't know why it is such an obscure feature most loopers can't do it, it is highly useful for practical looping in a band setting because you can keep the loop from drifting out of sync.

The sound quality of the RC-3 is phenomenal. And it has an enormously high amount of volume headroom. My guitar recordings without overdubs are so low in volume when I import the .wav-files into my computer. You can stack sounds like crazy and it won't distort that early. Pretty well done!

Andertons have put up a demo of the RC-5 (also features the SY-1 and OC-5):
