Boss PH-2 problem

Post by kramtone » Fri Jun 19, 2020 11:53 am

The issue is the oscillating whistling noise when it's bypassed, and when it's turned on, the oscillation becomes louder, and the effect level is somehow at 30%, even when the speed and res knobs are at max.

I hope you guys can shed some light to this pedal's issue. Thanks!

Here's the video to show what I mean. (sorry for the language on the vid, it's in Filipino, but the explanation is on top)

Welcome! I'm sure that Laurie might be able to help you investigate what's wrong with your phaser.

This is often caused by the power supply. What are you using to power it? Does it make the noise with a new battery?

I'm using a Godlyke power all wall wart. and it has a very low effect level...about 30% phase effect.

Is it possibly an old ACA model? What does the label on the back say which power supply is recommended?

This is the label from a PH-2 ACA model:

As Laurie suggested, please have a try with a fresh 9V battery. :)

It doesn't make noise, actually. it has little to no effect when engaged.
(pleas refer to the you tube link on top. thanks)
