Boss MD-200 / MD-500

Post by BearBoy » Sun Jun 07, 2020 3:44 pm

Has anyone got/had/spent any time messing around with these?

Was thinking of getting an MD-200 but was wondering whether I might later regret not spending the extra to get its big brother.

These are a bit out of my price range. I have plenty pedals that cover a lot what the MD pedals can do. I haven't had a chance to try one out.

I've got some of the modulation bases covered (CH-1, CE-2w, DC-3, HF-2, BF-3, Dingotone LGP) but I thought one of the MD pedals would be a good way of getting some more (tremolo, rotary, slicer, auto-wah etc) without buying lots of extra pedals. The MIDI sync functionality would also be really useful for syncing up tempo with my DAW when recording.

I'd rather get the MD-200 tbh but just wondered if there was any compelling reason to save up the extra for the MD-500.

Well, I ended up going for the MD-200 as I found it for £120 less than its big brother. I've also ordered a TRS/MIDI cable so I can sync things up with my DAW.
