I think this is the best digital spring reverb pedal. Love it.
New BOSS pedals!
Re: New BOSS pedals!
Yeah, early days but I am loving it so far. I know COSM was a bit of a dirty word back in the day but I think this pedal sounds great.

Re: New BOSS pedals!
Very nice! If the prices for the FRV-1 increase in the same way over the next few years it is in the league of the SG-1 as well!
Re: New BOSS pedals!
Ha, yeah
Part of the reason I picked one up now was that the prices seem to heading rapidly upwards. Not because I wanted an "investment" but more that it was probably now or never.

Apologies, misspell, its the SP-1 Spectrum!Pepe wrote: ↑Tue Feb 15, 2022 6:46 amWOW! Congratulations!fuzzbuzzfuzz wrote: ↑Tue Feb 15, 2022 2:39 amSide note: Just bought an SP-1 for 20,000 yen that works intermittently (I'd won an auction without particularly reading the listing!). I hope a service at home will restore it, as I'd never thought I'd be close to owning one (60,000 yen being a more realistic market price these days alas!).
The SG-1's circuit is no rocket science. I would suggest checking all the solder traces, especially those of all the wires and the switch. Clean the battery clip, the DC jack and also open the switch to treat it with isopropyl alcohol. And if you intend to keep the SG-1 consider recapping it.
I'll follow those steps, cheers Pepe!

Exactly this! I put down the most money I had ever spent (on one pedal) a VB-2, on that very basis, now or never!

Thank you Laurie, that's vey kind of you. I'll give it a basic service and see what happens, then I may have to pick your brains.
I have an unreal amount of disassembled pedals in little boxes awaiting a fix, time and skill alas desert me!

Re: New BOSS pedals!
It has arrived! I could scaly believe I had one in my hands ha!
On first plug in, no change of signal, after opening the back and refitting the PCB it sprang to life. Likely the wire to board connections need a re-solder. I'd never seen that old circuit board type before nor the "Alps" labelled pots, very old school indeed.
I must say I had my doubts about whether it would be a useful/useable unit sound wise, but I love it! Very easy to dial in some altered tones. I also thought on my initial play through with my Strat copy, "hmm instant RHCP tone there, or The Stokes perhaps". Low and behold, a google search later and I was right, its on Josh Klinghoffer's board (that bright percussive clean Strat tone) and also on Nick Valensi's board, along with another parametric EQ. Great pedal for adding a cocked wah or poke out of the mix tone for accentuated riffs etc.
I'd go as far as to say I'd happily have two, with different settings, on my pedalboard.....if they weren't a rare expensive classic
Anyway, very glad I've finally managed to snag one after so long collecting BOSS compacts (on a budget), and this to my surprise actually completes a traffic light set, which I shall have to picture soon
