Re: New BOSS pedals!
Just received another "haul" from Japan, as Doc called the last one.
And, as I said before, it supposed to contain a rarity.
It did, but it is a rare disappointment from a purchase from Japan.
Unfortunately, I have seen quite a few sellers in Japan that does not care for the good reputation Japanese people have for being honest.
The case here is an OD-1, from that "oddball" run, with 6 digits stamped batch numbers, pcb made in Taiwan, from the 1982/83 period, "Roland Japan" and "use a coin" back label, etc.
From the seller's pcb blurry picture (the first ignored clue), I could see that it was a never seen before, in an OD-1, combination of opamp and diodes (JRC4558D and Toshiba 1S1588 blue diodes), so I happily jumped to acquire it.
But it is not an unmolested unit, and now I don't know if it was originally like it is, there was not a picture from the solder side (the last and most important clue that I stupidly ignored), I was reckless.
Here are the pics, at first the blurry one from the seller that fooled me:

And the "haul", with a MIT PS-2 and a mint in box PH-1r:

I don't know anything about the innards of an OD-1 but the PS-2 and PH-1r look lovely
Re: New BOSS pedals!
Looking carefully I saw that it was only the opamp and the diodes that are not original.
I've seen some "oddballs" OD-1 and all of them comes with the NEC c4558c chip and black stripe diodes, a previous owner swapped them for the JRC4558D chip and the blue diodes.
If I wasn't a collector, just interested in it to play, that would be a very welcome modification, a mod that I would made, the chip is a Japanese 4558D and I love the smoothness of the blue diodes.
But I am a collector and would prefer it in original condition...
