BOSS DM-101 Delay Machine

I was just talking to a colleague re: Roland delay units, he was mulling between the RE-2 and the RE-202. I causally mentioned he should just check out the DM-101 as that shares the same layout format of the latter. This led me to have a browse on the DM, and - WOW - I never knew this was analog?! :o

I simply had missed that point and asusmed it was an emulation rather than the real deal.

So now I'm curious!!

Who owns one, and can offer any feeback?

With multiple BBDs (of recent production) the closest I have is the Maxon AD-999 (and 999 Pro) which both use 8. I tend to find modern analog delays a little last saisfying which I put down to the chip quality. (Cool Audio iirc). Not bad, just less characterful or clear.

I've got one and think it's fantastic. All the control and felixibility of a modern high end digital delay (tap tempo, tap division, midi sync, multiple modes, stereo, memory storage etc) but with genuine analogue sound.

Would definitely recommend you/your colleague try one out.

Thanks BearBoy for the feedback.

I will keep my eyes open for one at a good price point. The other day I missed an actual DM-1 for a low enough price, oh my lord the pain!

On the other hand I've just got my Space Echo Re-150 working, magic!
