Not sure how I feel about this one. No doubt a subscription to the Roland Cloud will be required for any software model beyond those included here as standard.

Just noted this in the specs:-
“Additional effects available over time with Model Pass purchases in the BOSS Effect Loader app”.
I wonder if this pass will also give you access to the models for use in a DAW.

Priced at £229 here in the UK and already in stock at one of the retailers - that’s a first for a new Boss pedal !

I just wanted to post something about that new pedal as well. Doesn't look uninteresting. The optical design, though, is not my cup of tea.

Comes with 16 effects: OD-1, SP-1, PH-1, SG-1, CS-1, TW-1, SD-1, DS-1, CE-2, BF-2, PN-2, OC-2, PS-2, VB-2, DD-2, and DF-2
Very interesting. They added some oddballs like the PS-2 and DF-2.

Can't say I saw this coming but at least I can finally have a PN-2 with MIDI tempo sync

In the Andertons video they say that there should be more models beyond the initial 16 available to purchase in January and that they think they'll cost £9.99 each. I would personally prefer to buy them rather than subscribe.

Yeah, not completely sold on the aesthetics tbh. Maybe it'll grow on me.

BOSS has had a tendancy lately to shrink everything to a stompbox format. The RT-2, SDE-3, RE-2, SL-2...
Seems like the modus operandi in the last 2-3 years is "take a classic pedal and make it a stompbox because we can now".
But a Multi-effect in a stompbox format?! I did NOT have that on my bingo card.
PS: Also wonder if it can be used in a DAW, just got into it lately and that could help.

A Model Pass is a license for adding a new effect to the PX-1 Plugout FX compact pedal. Model Passes are available for purchase within the BOSS Effect Loader app for $9.99 each* starting in January 2026. Effects can be loaded into the PX-1 from the app via a Bluetooth® or USB-C® connection.
Scheduled for January 2026:
Audition Effects in the PX-1
Before committing to a Model Pass purchase, you can try out effects with demo versions that introduce a small audio gap every 30 seconds.

Looks like a cool, pragmatic addition. I can see myself getting one so I can have models of the virtually unobtanium SG1, SP1, PN2... Having the DC2, CS1 and TW1 would be fun, too. Being BOSS compact sized, it's easy to board up, too.
