Boss VE-8 issues with the external footswitch

Guys, need your help! I got this Hotone Ampero dual momentary footswitch, left one for tap tempo, right one for stop/clear loop.

I checked the VE8 groups, a lot of people using the exact same switch just fine. But I have issues
I did everything by the VE8 manual, I set up the C1 to 14 (tap tempo) and C2 to 3 (Loop stop/hold: clear), and in the Pedal Settings, both the C1 and C2 modes are set to 1 (Momentary)
The switch stops the loop. But it immediately erases it after a second
I've tried all possible combinations in the settings. Also, plug unplug, turn unit on/off.
Finally, I did the factory reset. Same thing. Stops the loop, erases it
I am using a TRS cable of course.
