my newest boss is just an FS7. I had a little revelation, I was using the RC-500 to fairly complex ends and it was frequently crashing until I got the idea to use a FS-7 instead of a DIY external switch. For whatever reason the FET circuitry system gives a 100% reliable stomping on the RC-500 whereas the raw heavy duty footswitch to jacks will eventually run into error, at least in my experience!

Yesterday I finally received my parts order with the new potentiometer and the 12 kOhm resistors to do Laurie's G-type potentiometer trick. It works great! Thanks again so much for your help, Laurie! The black knobs look a bit odd, but it's better than having only two orange ones.

And now that I have tested everything properly, I ran into the noise issue again. This Taiwanese model (and the first one that I had) has a ticking noise when engaged. It is a very noticeable tic-a-tic-a-tic-a until either the pedal gets bypassed or when the guitar's volume is fully turned down.

However, I found a solution to this annoying problem! Another buffered pedal in front of the DF-2 makes this noise stop completely.

Here are a few comparison pictures before and after the cleaning/repair. The stupid scrawl is now invisible to my eyes.

Thank you! I will still be hunting a Japanese model in good condition, but in the meantime this one will suffice.

A few days ago I received a BOSS RRV-10 with discoloured knobs. The yellow and the orange ones were still looking good, so I took the two orange knobs for the DF-2 that looks like this now:



Much better!
