Don't underestimate the Slow Gear! It is so much more difficult to get it right with the volume knob of your guitar. Not every guitarist can do it so professionally as Jeff Beck did it or Janne Schaffer does it. Add delay and reverb and the Slow Gear is becoming a fantastic gear for unique solos.

I have often thought about picking up a $80 NF1 and doing the SG1 conversion. I wouldn't use it much, but I can see where and how I could, and it would be fun to have for those moments...Pepe wrote: ↑Thu Jun 27, 2024 5:56 amDon't underestimate the Slow Gear! The other option would be a Behinger SM200 or perhaps one of the smaller Chinese pedals. I would prefer to just have another BOSS.

Re: New BOSS pedals!
I have tried a Behringer DR600 Digital Reverb that was accidentally sent to me a few months ago. What a piece of junk! I really feared that another dozen steps might damage or break it. It always made a bad clicking noise as if the pieces weren't properly put together. And it didn't sound like an RV-5 at all! It has all the same modes and knobs, but it sounds and behaves completely differently (in some modes the Time knob didn't seem to affect anything). The sound was very underhelming as well. All in all it confirmed my prejudices. Maybe the analogue units do at least sound similar to the pedals that they copied.

I had the SG-1 conversion done by Griffin on an NF-1 a couple of years ago. It is pretty good, although when I shot it out against a pair of actual SG-1s, I found the sensitivity taper was a bit different (the NF-1 was actually easier to dial with my gear).bigtone23 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 30, 2024 6:44 amI have often thought about picking up a $80 NF1 and doing the SG1 conversion. That makes sense on a digital behringer since they can't copy the programming algorithms even if they copy the circuit.Pepe wrote: ↑Sun Jun 30, 2024 8:50 amI have tried a Behringer DR600 Digital Reverb that was accidentally sent to me a few months ago. The analog ones get pretty close to the pedals they are copying but they tend to be noisier, lower-fidelity, and the buffers are usually crap. With that in mind, if someone hates the behringer version they probably wouldn't like the Boss (or Ibanez in some cases) version either.

Well, I had an AC-2 for some months. It is quite hissy, since it doesn't seem to be much more than a cleverly set EQ with lots of boosted high frequencies and some notched mids. I was a bit surprised by the sound, though.

yeah I was surprised how good the AC-2 is, its such a silly idea but it delivers in my opinion. especially if for some reason you need a sort of acoustic sound for only just a passage
