I regret selling off my original BOSS board that I assembled as a 13-14 year old kid.
BCB6, PSM5, SD1, DF2 (Spr Dist-Fdb original version), CE3, BF2, DD2, TU12H.
I still have that same TU12H, and replaced most of the rest (not the CE3, but do have a CE2, among many other BOSS choruses). Having all of the exact ones that I got 40-41 years ago would be sentimentally cool. Plus, it would still a usable pedalboard today.
Wow, you really started at an early age! I began looking out for pedals when I was 16 or 17 years old. But then again I started as a 12-year-old with a somewhat okay-ish Kawai keyboard and not with guitar (seventeen) or bass (fifteen). Your board would indeed still rock today!

I wish I hadn't sold my old silver screw OD-1 (14 pin) and PH-1. I needed the cash, at the time.

However, I do have an early (circuit A) SD-1 and a silver screw PH-1R, so thats still fairly close.

Regarding the PH-1R I had agreed two years ago, but since I snagged a cheap faulty one that I was able to repair I have to say: search another PH-1! I didn't like the PH-1R too much, but the PH-1 is really, really good. Laurie was right all the years and I had to try both to believe it.

Yeah, I might have to do that. However, isn't the PH-1R exactly the same as the PH-1, but with an added resonance control?

Laurie changed his mind then? He previously recommended the 1R over the 1 when I asked that question last year. :?:

1) The PSC-100 daisy-chained should be fine for all. The DD-2 will defeat all the ACA circuits in the ACA pedals.
2) Roland Canada may sell the inserts?
3) I've been making my own patch cables for so long I can't help with sourcing them.

PH-1R :D

Maybe he recommended the PH-1R, because it is normally significantly cheaper than the predecessor.

Possibly. He is cheap, isn't he? ;)

Yeah, the bug started in the fall of 1980 when my older sister's boyfriend gave me my first pedal, a Maestro FZ-1S. He recently got a Peavey Mace VT head and Sunn 4x12" cab. He didn't need the fuzz pedal anymore, and probably felt the urge to pass on gear to support 10 year old me struggling to rock out with a clean sounding, 60s Airline 9001B amp (my first amp). haha. Really wish I still had that fuzz and amp today! That fuzz served me well--it was dirty and rockin'.
Got my 2nd guitar: a used 78 Strat from the local music store for Christmas of 80. A NOS 79 Vibrolux Reverb came around for my Bday the next June. This music store was now on my radar, and I tended to hang out there a lot. Too much. :D A local musician sold me his block logo MXR D+ and Phase 45 in 1982.
By 1983, I hung out at that music store a lot. Pretty much every Saturday afternoon during the school year and a couple days a week during the summer. The owner sort of hired me, and would put me to work with jobs like stringing guitars, cleaning up, watching the store when he was with other customers, answer questions about guitar and drum gear, etc... He didn't pay me much, but I also got gear at cost. I ordered up my first BOSS pedalboard with that discount!

 Yes, and I'm glad you sensed some humor in my post.

So, Laurie; would you mind commenting on the difference between the PH-1 and the PH-1R, please? I hear that you're prefering the PH-1 now. Is that correct?

Is it true that the PH-1R is essentially the same as the PH-1, but with an added Resonance control? If so, shouldn't the PH-1R be the preferred pedal?
