Sweet find coming in the mail soon
I recently got the Keeley SD-1 bug again which in turn gave me the Boss SD-1 bug too, Lol
So I as I have been hunting a Keeley I’ve been looking at the olderish silver label SD-1’s seeing if I could find a minty example with box.
I found this sweet little number with box from December 2006!
$65 shipped.
These through hole component models in minty condition are pretty much what I have a taste for just in case I decide to have it modded later on.
I also have the feeling I’m not the only one hunting these newer older ones down and that I’m probably late to the party, Lol
and can only see the demand for them grow the more these SMD’s take Boss pedals over.

Nice!
I also search for the newer, through-hole versions, too, just in case a mod idea pops up.

That’s great!
What was the last year for the through hole component versions?
Btw the pedal showed up today and sounds fantastic!

That’s awesome Luke
I’d like to find a 2008 DS-1.
I had one from then and it sounded it pretty awesome.
I think that was revision 4 era Of the DS-1 circuit?

Re: Sweet find coming in the mail soon
The SMD pedals rolled out gradually, with individual models switching over at various times from ~2018 onward. The easiest way to know is the SMD versions are made in Malaysia. The other tipoff is the power jack. The SMD ones all have the old style power jack at the bottom of the pedal, but they have sharper corners on the edges of the black rectangle than the older ones. While this is less helpful with stuff like the GE-7 that has always had the bottom power jack, but this was a change for things like the MT-2, Rev. 4 DS-1, etc.NeavesTheKnight wrote: ↑Sat May 13, 2023 5:44 pmThat’s great!

Re: Sweet find coming in the mail soon
Thanks

I just remember too many things. The pedal nerd shop I go to was curious, so we started taking the backs off of the new shipments of Boss pedals to do an SMD vs. through-hole check.
I used to use the rectangular bottom power jack to quickly tell if a DS-1 was V1 or V2-4, particularly if it had velcro on the bottom. I started getting thrown off when I noticed DS-1s with the the rectangular power jack and the red PSA decals, getting excited at first and then having that dashed.
