Wanting to buy a Weber WPDLXFMR-2 transformer

If you have one laying around... Must be the multi-voltage version (110/220).

Alternatively, the shipping to Canada quoted by Weber is eyewatering (USD$60 for USPS) so if a US based member could buy one and post it up to me I could sort out payment using PayPal.

I looked into this. We all know how crazy shipping costs are, and this is insane.
US dollars, all rounded to the nearest dollar.
I found the transformer on Weber's site, it would be $27 +$15 shipping to me. Smallbear lists the weight of the transformer at 41 ounces, so I calculated a 3 pound box.

USPS shipping charges for a 3 pound box to Canada--the best rate being the slow truck/1st Class for $37 and Priority for $50.

It looks to be about $52 total shipping cost using 1st Class.

I looked into ordering two transformers to spread out the shipping cost. It adds $2 to the initial order and then 1st class disappears (think it's a 4 pound maximum? Priority is $57 for a grand total of $74.

If this makes financial sense to you and you want to do this, let me know. I'd be happy to help you out, as I get it: I had to get a rare Toyota part from Canada once and had to do the same thing, but only because the parts house wouldn't ship to the US.

For sure! Always happy to help out however I can. Let me know if anything changes.
Seems the only way to make the shipping reasonable is by ordering multiples of the transformers.

Then you have a bunch of those on hand, and the nagging feeling to make units! Perhaps some members here would like a baller power supply? From what I read looking those up, they are part and parcel for a virtually quiet pedalboard power supply. That transformer was my cool, deep dive gear takeaway of the day. Thank you for that.

When searching for the Weber transformer, I came across a couple message board threads about propriatary power supplies built with it vs commercially available power supplies. One thread was to the effect (see what I did there) of the poster's homemade power supply with the Weber worked perfectly and was dead silent. His friend's power supply was not silent, despite being a nice offering from some well known brand (no mention who, though). When he tried his Weber based PS on the friend's board, it was silent.
That's just one of two threads I read about how great the Weber is at the heart of a power supply, which you are clearly well aware. If someone wants a really nice, silent power supply, it won't be cheap. $200-400 is pretty standard pricing for a good, commercially available power supply, $500+ for something great. The stuff under $200 is utilitarian or requires mods to be good.

It's a lot to build one properly, for sure. If anyone could custom build one, it's you! I get that the labor cost would also be pretty high, as a proper power supply may not assemble nearly as quick and with as few parts as a 32 Fuzz Architect. However, for some of the boards I see anymore, there are a lot of particularly expensive digital pedals mixed with fuzzes and such. An 8 pedal board could easily have $2200 worth of pedals on a $200 board with $100 in cables. A $600+ power supply seems pretty appropriate here.

I'm starting to lean towards using these:

Each one gives two windings, so for 8 outputs I'd need 4 of them. They are small, and critically, they are low-profile. I could fit an 8 isolated output power supply into one of these:

The Weber transformer is much taller, so the power supply would need to sit away from the pedalboard. With the Triad transformers in that case it could fit under the board.

Plus I have an account with Mouser and free shipping to Canada...
