can be a bit bright through the Marshall cabs 've tried it with
Yes, that's exactly what I am finding. It has a very good tone, and plenty of volume but it lacks punch through the Marshall cab.

The OR15 is currently up for sale to fund the purchase of the parts to build a JTM45 clone. Now that shouldn't lack bottom end ;)
The JTM45 clone will pair nicely.
V30s have an upper mid cut to them, where the 1960 cab has a nice, low mid bump when pushed.

Thanks for the thoughts!

I'm hesitating about the JTM45. A lot of work to build and I know I won't really use it ... My Dr Z Maz 18 is already too loud to use "in the basement". Looking at the videos of the JTM45 I simply can't imagine how loud it would have to be to get the right tone out of it :?

I finally decided to not buy the parts to build a JTM45. It would have been an interesting project, but I don't really have a use for it.

The 1960A cab has been sold. I am contemplating keeping the OR15 that I bought to go with it. I do have a single G12T-75 speaker that I can build a box for to use with the OR15. It would be a nice little rig I think.

I love the T75 speakers. There's a lot of hate out there, saying they are 'too scooped' etc... I think it's just because they were ubiquitous as the stock speaker in Marshall amps and cabs for a good part of the 80s to the current day*. They sound great in a 2x12" or 4x12", but also as singles, too. I have a pair in a Marshall 1936 and love it. I also had a single in a Thiele type box in the 90s. Sounded great.

*It's like the Gibson 490R/498T pickups, which were used as the stock pickups for decades in many solid body models. Many hate on them, but there is no denying that they sound great, especially when used with 500K pots all around.

I had a 1936 for a while a few years back. Yes, they are a nice cab.

Interestingly, I think I'm experiencing the "lack of love" for the G12T-75. I've had it for sale locally on kijiji (local version of Craigslist) for a few weeks just to see if there is any interest. Price is set at CAD$100 (about USD$75), and there is nothing. Not a single enquiry.

I love the 1936. It's like 85% of the sound of the 1960 at 65% of the size.
Yeah, it's funny how polarizing the T75 is. $75 is a great deal for a nice speaker.

Still nothing - not a single reply.

I've pretty much come to the conclusion that in the current market the G12-T75 and the OR15 head would need to be "given away" to move them.

If I can't get a reasonable price for them my new plan is to buy some plywood and make a single-12 cabinet for the G12-T75 (effectively 25% of a 1960A cab) and keep the OR15 to use with it.

Bought an empty single 12 Blackstar cab locally yesterday. Doing a quick repair on it and will load the G12T-75 into it and see how it sounds.

I bet it will sound great!

It's funny, my main amps are older Mesa Marks (IIA, IIC+, III) and they tend to be a bit mid forward, but the T75 is complimentary with that voicing.

The Blackstar cab is done.

I think I'm just a Fender amp kind of guy. I'm not even feeling a hint of bonding with the OR15/Blackstar cab combination :?
