Pepe's demo videos (New: Rhys I Loome)

Post by Pepe » Mon Oct 01, 2018 1:40 pm

After months of various health issues (back pain, arthrosis, meniscus surgery) I can finally present my newest demo video of one of the oldest pedals that I have:

The video also contains a PSA vs. ACA-adaptor comparison. Have fun!

For those who missed my CE-1 demo:

Great demo videos Pepe! I checked out your PW-2 and XT-2 recently but missed the CE-1. Hope your health issues improve!

After more than two months I finally managed to edit this comparison video:

The BF-1 and the flanger of the massive KORG Trident synthesizer sound very similar, because both are built around the Reticon SAD1024A BBD IC.

Very nice Pepe.

It’s interesting that your particular BF-2 has that darker blue almost matt finish rather than the lighter blue metallic. I wonder if it’s just age? 🤔☺️

A lovely flanger 👍😁

Is it more glossy normally? I haven't seen another BF-1 in person before.

pepe - I missed this when you wrote it. Sorry to hear you were dealing with that stuff!

The schematic is definitive - it shows a supply voltage of 12.5V (i.e. ACA power). Using PSA power will result in a regulation failure - the pedal will still work (obviously), but the power circuit inside won't hold the internal supply rail(s) steady.

I love how at 1:08 with the manual control maxed out, it hardly sounds like a flanger, but it colors the sound in a really nice way.
Which is very apparant when you switch it off at 1:12. 8-)

Not a regular Flanger user

but I have a BF-1 and it is the only flanger I will never sell

I believe this unit was developed by Roland engineers as a phaser, but they overcooked it
