The 12V Zener limit is because the base-emitter reverse voltage limit of the MP16B transistors (when used as clippers) is 15V.
so, is it safe to run at 12v?
I'm really digging this 32OD

DO NOT EXCEED 11 VDC.
If using an unregulated supply please measure it with a meter before use.
