I love what it does at the 6:00 mark and onwards in that vid, and is a side of the Tonebender I don't think I've heard frequently in demos before. If the 32TB2 plays in that space I will be super happy.
Hmmm... I don't know what he is doing to get that. The nasally/broken sound. Haven't been able to get that out of the 32TB2, but that doesn't mean it isn't in there...

Likely will take careful adjustment of the bias.

He looked like he was being super fiddly with the volume control on the guitar. Up to me to find that sweet spot when I have one :D

Or... different gain transistors. I will be sending a bag full of random gain transistors plus a silicon Q3 with every pedal. The random transistors will mainly be lower gain, which is likely what some of the factory pedals ended up with (see my previous post).

Or... different transistors altogether. The transistors are socketed so you can try anything you can get your hands on. As long as you get the right legs (E, B,C) in the right holes the pedal will work with any PNP transistor. The results might not be pleasing with some combinations... 8-)

OK.

So with the bias at maximum (50k) it definitely does gate, and go a little nasally. To get more nasal and more gating swap Q3 for a lower gain? I'll leave that up to you :D

I have a JDM MkI/Zonk that I quite like

it has bias adjustment for gating (original Mk1s did gate quite a bit, i gather)

gating from about 2:00

Boards are done. Ready to drill and paint the boxes.

There are two (2) left in the batch if anyone else wants one.
  • One has close to the "right" gains
  • One has a slightly higher gain for Q3 (110)
And then no more ever (from me at least)...
