I went to a jam seession a few months back - a small bar, tiny stage. A Reggae hippie chap turned up with a pallet, and actual massive unapinted wooden pallet for forklifts, with at least 4 rows of pedals. It took up more than half the stage! All I heard was the DD-3 and the wah!
  exactly what I meant.
I also once saw a band with 1 guitarist with a huge rack, something went wrong, he spent 2 songs figuring it out, while the other guitarist with just a simple Marshall halfstack and a cord looked annoyed across the stage

Yes, all it takes is one dodgy patch lead and you're doomed to angry stares and panic! And you'd probably spent all night getting it tidy only to have tio rip it apart on stage, oops.

I do love building complex pedalboards packed full of rows of sounds, but ultimately everytime I gig (and sing) I realise that super simple is best. In fact ideal gigging wise is a BCB-3 or 6 stuffed with BOSS. Nicely spaced pedals, big switches, any trouble and it's easy to pop out/order shuffle/change cables, whatever etc etc.

I've gone simple Boss for a while. Its good to limit your options live, sometimes!

I like DS-1s and the OD-3 is an underrated overdrive.

Old school. I like it.

How heavily modded is the DS-1?

From the seller: SOLID FUN MUSIC

I used same value and capacitors type as Analogman did, Panasonic for film caps and Nichicon FW for the electrolytic. Also carbon comp resistor on input and output path.

A few thing that I did differently, I used 1S2473 for clipping diodes, while Analogman used white band diode which I think it was MA150.

I also changed caps on power supply section with high grade Nichicon FG, Analogman usually did the same on most of his mods but not on his DS-1 that I currently have. And lastly, I used 1/2 watt carbon comp resistor while Analogman used 1/4 watt rating. shouldn't be any different since I use same value, and I personally handpicked the resistor to be the same value as what I found on Analogman DS-1 that I have.

I also had socket installed for the opamp. Analogman prefer stock NJM3404 (JRC) opamp, so stock opamp will be included. but just in case you want to try other opamp, I will also include opamp adapter so that you can try standard dip-8 dual opamp (last photo). personally, my favorite dual opamp for DS-1 would be old stock NE5532

The pedal currently has the chip adapter and an NE5532 installed

The board looks good!

Of course, the thing that makes me go :o is "a one-sixth share of eighty bucks".

Saw this the other day and while it didn't surprise me, it did make me shake my head:

Badlands was the best venue in many ways. A lot of touring acts played there. Insurance premiums killed it I think

Yeah. I read the liability insurance premiums went up ten-fold.
