I hate to see this forum section empty, so let's kick it off with our pedalboards.

Here's my main board, mainly used for occasional reunions of my '80s new-wavey frat-party-and-bar band.


Augmented for my 40th high school reunion. The circa '77 cock-rock required a wah pedal (Foghat's "I Just Want To Make Love To You") and talkbox (Aerosmith's "Sweet Emotion" and Joe Walsh's "Rocky Mountain Way".) Vox MV50 powers the talkbox.

This is not my main pedal board, it's not even my full Church pedal board. I'll post those later. This is just a quick board to get by.

So yeah, except for the Maverick mini-wah, all the rest is Boss.

A few updates to mine:

An old one but this set up lasted for many classic rock covers gigs. The BCB 60 is in the JVM’s fx loop.

My guitar board is a mess.
My bass board is more organised, except for the random pedals.

This is my small board for gigging out-and-about. I've recently been depping for a punk band and needed some kind of swirly modulation for some songs. The board originally had a Rothwell Love Squeeze compressor first in line but, for these gigs, it's been replaced by my venerable Boss BF-2 flanger. This was the second ever pedal I owned (way back in the 80s). It's sat in a drawer mostly unused for 10 years or more but has now come out to play and shine again!

The other pedals (R-L) are an Xotic RC Booster, TC Electronic MojoMojo overdrive and TC Electronic Alter Ego delay. For these gigs I've added a Boss TU-3 tuner in front of the board and a custom made clean boost and Bespeco volume pedal in the 'insert loop' (between the MojoMojo and the Alter Ego).

The gold anodised footswitch caps are 'Stompers' from Custom Pedal Boards in the UK. The battery box is a DIY job to simplify setup and, hidden under black tape to the top left of the board, is a GigRig Isolator box to run isolated power to the four pedals. Before, when running from a simple daisy chain, I was getting noise interference between the Alter Ego and the BF-2 which necessitated running the flanger on a separate 9v battery. The Isolator has solved that problem and is small enough to fit neatly on the board.

SYB-3 : bass synthesizer, octaver, wah, fuzz, two of them allows quick sound change.
FB-2 : equalizer, boost, hardcore distortion/feedback.

I also have a DD-7 I use alone for a free-jazz improvisation project (looper / delay), but I don't use it anymore in the pedalboard, I don't really need it, except sometimes for electronic music with a SYB-3 and a drum machine. I don't really like modulations (chorus, flanger, phaser, etc...) on my bass, I prefer a straight bass sound, or a synthesizer sound, and I like fuzz and wah, so this compact pedalboard allows me to play what I like and what I need.

Put together this afternoon and put into action at rehearsal tonight using a Marshall.

I seem to change my boards almost as soon as they become complete, possibly owing to the two sides of the coin I appreciate yet are often polar opposites - 1) Lots of sounds vs 2) Easy to gig (look down and quickly deduce the changes)

The first board (mostly red/brown) is:

Comp > Tuner > OC-3 (splits to bass amp) > Rotovibe > C9 Organ > Whammy.

The C9 is a very recent addition and really does sound organ like - Jon Lord in a box!

Then board 2 (which is able to be used by itself for jams etc)

Boost>Fuzz>Tremolo>Reverb/Delay.

I couldn't resist the line up of Colorsounds despite their inherent difficulties The Power Boost is a phenomenally clean to fuzz machine. Every strum of an open G through the Marshall stack was Pete Townsend-esque, tons of dynamics, glass and clean sparkle, yet rough and burly, gnarly when pushed. I'm on a learning curve with that one but I think its certainly pushed my RATs out.

My philosophy for this new set up was minimal confusion where possible with knobs per pedal, simple/set forget, easy to kick in without looking down from singing, spaced apart (no cramming in an extra one up high!). I also managed to squeeze space for the PSUs who can slot in on velcro and a oth for capos/picks etc.

Pretty pleased so far...at least for a week or two!

Santa's going to be busy this year with a bigger pedal board and decent patch cables right?
