Re: New (broken) pedal day!
Another old broken pedal is on the way to me. The_Doc can guess which one that could be.

Re: New (broken) pedal day!
I’ll have a guess - MXR Graphic EQ ?

Re: New (broken) pedal day!
I’m hedging my bets here - an MXR Distortiion + or a Boss DS-1

This one is screaming "The_Doc". MXR is correct. I hope the parcel will arrive soon, because it was sent back to the sender for whatever reason.

Re: New (broken) pedal day!
The seller sent the parcel off once more on Monday morning. The first time he really forgot to write my street name and house number on the label! Normally I had received it yesterday already, but somehow there are a lot of delays. Now the expected delivery date is tomorrow. Well, we'll see!

Re: New (broken) pedal day!
The MXR Phase 45 has arrived!
The negative things:
- the battery clip was replaced with a 2.1mm DC jack
- on two spots the rim of the chassis was treated with pliers to create holes for the wire of the DC jack (needs to be filed down a bit, because it is bent in a bad way so that the lid doesn't fit anymore)
- the two transistors were replaced with modern transistors for whatever reason
- the three 10µF tantalum capacitors were replaced with electrolytic capacitors (I doubt that these are an improvement)
- the soldering job was done in a non-professional manner and there is at least one bad solder joint at the leg of a resistor
- there was nothing inside as a shield for the circuit board and the metal of the potentiometer
The positive things:
- the pedal is cosmetically in pretty good shape and surprisingly for such an old pedal (late 1975!) the surface has only a few small nicks and light scratches
- the foam has been removed already, otherwise I had discovered lots of gooey stuff inside
- the two original desoldered transistors fell out of the chassis when I opened the pedal - my multi tester says that they still work, so after my repair the Phase 45 will be pretty much in original condition again
- having paid merely 35 EUR for the partly defective pedal including shipping I won't complain at all!
