Re: New (broken) pedal day!
Today the echo unit came back from the synth forum member's workshop. The annoying noise is still there, but definitely less prominent than before.
The guy said that it isn't possible to make it run perfectly even, but this was the best he could do. Hopefully I can do a few rough recordings tomorrow or on Friday.

Re: New (broken) pedal day!
I just had a few minutes to do some rough recordings with the Monacor EM-200. It is the pure sound of the Disk-Echo without guitar amp. Recorded on my BOSS RC-3 Loop Station.

I quite like #4.
Re: New (broken) pedal day!
I think it sounds really good Pepe and I can’t hear any noise. Nothing that would bother me anyway.

The noise is quite audible at the end of example #2. Turn the volume up to hear it. Before the kind synth forum member did what he could to make it more even, the noise was really very prominent.

Slight thread resurrection - and full circle on the advice front!Pepe wrote: ↑Wed May 07, 2025 5:22 pmThe vintage Jen Mister Cry Baby Super is repaired and it sounds awesome! Luckily our dear fuzzbuzzfuzz was able to help me out with pictures of his own Jen Mister Cry Baby, so I quickly found out how the potentiometer had to be wired.
It has the great wah sound that I missed when I sold my Jen Double Sound, plus it serves as a very useful volume pedal when not in wah mode. I have read that the volume pedal function was a tone sucker, but with this replacement potentiometer it is possible to use it without noticeable volume or tone loss.
It is really annoying to repair those old wah pedals, because the modern replacement parts don't always fit perfectly. For example I had to use a thick plastic washer (that I cut through at one side so I was able to slide it over the potentiometer shaft) that made it possible to position the pinion gear of the new potentiometer more to the middle (see picture 2). And then, to ensure that the new rack gear keeps in contact with the pinion gear and the new tension clutch, I used iron beads to make it stay in the middle (see picture 3), otherwise it had moved to the sides and jumped off all the time.
Now I only need some fitting rubber bumpers, because the switch does activate too quickly.

I pulled out my Mister Super Crybaby and despite having a new pot installed it still has some annoying crackle. I deduce via the world of google that “stray voltage” may be an issue.
So the question is how to track it down and eliminate. I’ve seen posts that note:
- the pot is directly connected to the input of the pedal (no cap to filter). Add a capacitor?
- a dodgy capacitor in the circuit..replace but where to start…
- clean the PCB.
One additional point is that the DC input jack on mine is missing the tiny nut and is loosely taped to the wah exterior body. This might also be an issue.
Also, Pepe I see you have a resistor running from the pot to ground. Was that out of necessity or simply a sub for bare wire?
Many thanks all!
