New bass day - my bass collection is "complete" (no really!)

Picked this is for a very reasonable price. Genuine Fender J bass, made in Korea. A beautiful instrument. Sounds great! At least as good as any MIM instrument I've played.

Needed quite a bit of work. The biggest thing was the neck - 20+ years old and it had never had the truss rod adjusted so there was a huge bow in it. I had to clamp the neck in a jig and heat it with a 2000W radiant heater - it needs to be well over 100 degrees C for the lignin in the wood to become a tiny bit elastic. I was worried I'd melt the finish on the back of the neck, but it was all good. Neck is straight again and the truss-rod nut gives perfect adjustability.

Heat treatment - too hot to touch for about 6 hours, checking every 30 minutes.

It's a real art making neck adjustments. I just recently had a 72 P-bass that wasn't adjusted in years. I completely had to loosen the nut and let it sit for a few days before i could make some adjustments
