I just did a couple of repairs for a friend - the back cover plates were missing on his guitars. I fabricated new plates using this, and it worked perfectly.

Then put self-adhesive copper sheeting on the plate for shielding:

I created a template out of cardboard to fit in the hole, taped the template to the plastic sheet, used a scroll-saw to cut the plastic, then finished the edges with sandpaper. The material was very easy to work with, and seems fit-for-purpose.

Very smart. Thanks!

For whatever reason (Hendrix perhaps?) every Greco Strat copy I've picked up here has a missing back panel/cover. And due to the measurements being different to the US system (Metric vs Imperial), most replacements (inc. pickups) are misaligned or simply don't fit at all.

I recently had a scratchplate done for a telecaster copy Greco. Cost a fortune and the job was still not partocuallry good. I refuse to go back to that guy again :| (If you want a job doing properly.....!).

I've bought scratchplate blanks and made my own in the past. A bit more time consuming than a back cover because it is so visible, but it works.
