It came from a thrift store with all the hardware stripped. My intent was to rescue it with inexpensive hardware and electronics and then likely pass it on. With the upgrades, it now owes me about USD$350.
It doesn't hold tune perfectly, it has "idiosyncrasies". Personality. But... You know when you have an instrument and you just can't explain why it is "the one"? This is that instrument for me, at least for now. It is my go-to. Above all the others, including the genuine Gibson's and Fenders.
Laurie this "Have a instrument and can't just explain why" thing happens all the time, I even have guitars I have had for many years and I discover new things which did not show up before. Get someone else to set up your instruments, and all of sudden they sound different.
Every guitar is different, and price and brand does not matter, some of them speak to you straight away, while others take some more time. Some of them have a mystery, as in why they sound the way they do. I like this idea of, for example, comparing Strat type of guitars and finding out they can sound, and play so different. I think it is good to think about your instruments instead of being like: Oh this is a Fender, all should be fine....
So many variations and details, which also inspires the music making. It is a never ending story!
