Re: Would you buy this pedal?

I'd love to have an all original silver screw SD-1. However, the one in the 1st post here is clearly a fake! The case maybe original, (batch 0300) but the circuit is from a later SD-1... :? Nice spot. Thats the later diode set I observe - circa 1986 ish (matching my SD-1s of that era). I do have an...

Re: SD-1 diode swapping.

Great photo comparison Old_Iron! It's also fantastic to see a 0300 silver screw on the inside! Thanks for posting these. :ugeek: Did the SD-1 get anymore revisions over the years? (C, D, E, etc ) Nope, up until it became SMT/SMD there are only two versions, A and B. Chips and diodes combo ( to my k...

Re: SD-1 diode swapping.

Is there much of a difference between the 1981 circuit (A) compared to the (B)? Thanks. Let's play Where's Waldo (Wally at some places)? Here is a side by side picture of my earliest version "A" (0300 FEB 1981) and "B" (126000 NOV 1981). The only difference I found is at the lower left corner...

Thanks for the answers!
Over Ebay i have found this:
I know this one, and it isn't a good exemple, it isn't a real silver screw, it is already a short dash so it should be a black screw.

Therefore, the price is way too high for a short dash, black screw late version.

Re: Boss DS-1 "Oddball"

I thought this circuit was the same as the MIJ circuit? Some components changed, but it's not yet the modern revision..? I never compared the regular production pcb with those in the oddballs, but those pcb versions in them are consistent with the 1982/83 period. The SD-1 only had two pcb versions,...

Re: Boss DS-1 "Oddball"

I think the theory that the PCB's were made in Taiwan but the rest of the pedal assembled in Japan is a sound theory. It could either mean the whole PCB (assembled with components) or just the PCB itself was outsourced. It was probably a complete pcb, with components already soldered because the ca...

Re: Info boss ds-1 long dash silver Screw no. 8800

As Pepe already said, it is an early unit. Prices fluctuates a little and recently I noted a small drop in the Japanese market, but the best thing to do is to research over ebay to see for how much they are really being sold outside Japan. I would say something around 200 euros for an early unit in ...

Re: Boss DS-1 "Oddball"

Don't forget that we had some oddities with the serial numbers as well! When they started producing pedals in Taiwan they used the same serial numbers as at the beginning of the six-digit serial number. We have had some people in this forum and in the previous forums who wondered why the serial num...

Re: Boss DS-1 "Oddball"

An interesting detail about the SD-1 oddball, the color shade is different from my others SD-1, it is more greenish, and it isn't light burn or light bleach, the difference is all over it, including inside the battery compartment. It's difficult to see in the pictures but in person it is easily nota...
