Re: DM2 burnt smell

Welcome to the forum!

Does it only have that smell when you power it, or all the time?

Re: LM2 limiter

Ah, I see! The LM-2 is designed to tame the volume of signal peaks to prevent clipping. With drastic settings it can be used for the purpose that you have in mind, but I really wouldn't recommend it. The problem is that your playing dynamics would be lost. Every single note and especially chords wou...

Re: LM2 limiter

Welcome to the forum! I don't know if I understand your question correctly. Do you you have a vintage LM-2 that you want to use in combination with the Katana amp? I'm not familiar with these amps, so I just had a look at the user's manual. It has a limiter effect inside as well. Is this one based o...

Re: Seized pot shafts on a pedal

It is also a big pain to remove the pot. If your unit looks the same inside as this one, I don't know why there is a problem to desolder it: https://www.doktorsewage.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/photo-4.jpg Also, opening these Alpha potentiometers is fairly easy. You should only be careful with t...

Re: Synthesizer

KORG M1 repair/maintanence/cleaning finished today. So the birthday surprise for next Saturday is ready (my brother gave the broken M1 to me several months ago and I had to keep him waiting all the time, because there was no chance yet for a repair). It took me many hours to make this instrument wor...

Re: Synthesizer

Thank you! And now I have two more synth repair/cleaning jobs. My brother's KORG M1 has stuck keys and broken switch caps that fell inside the chassis, plus it needs new tactile switches. And another KORG Poly-800 with inverted keys made it to me (for resale this time). Very time-consuming stuff, es...

Re: Synthesizer

Thank you! Well, there are a few scratches and some parts with faded colour, but overall it is in such nice shape again. When I gave the upper chassis a first rough cleaning in the bathtub, lots of dirty water was running through the sink. I don't want to know what happened to this instrument in the...
