Re: New Boss DM-101 Delay Machine

Well, I think their standard compact pedals are still going strong. But we all could give them some advice which pedals urgently need an improved follow-up model. AW-3, PH-3 and ODB-3, yes I'm looking at you! 100% agree with PH-3 and AW-3 (which is MISERABLE SOUNDING). BB-1X I feel is quite the upg...

Re: New BOSS pedals!

it was as very slim carbon copy paper I thought it was just a layer of insulation but it was folded up. may '82 someone bought a Ross Flanger and Boss CE-2 for $250 total, so these things were always pretty expensive! That was the good old "list price" era of gear where buying most gear was like bu...

Re: Building myself a vintage Deluxe Electric Mistress clone

Thanks! It does feel good, but honestly it surprised me. When I'm doing repairs etc I don't really think about it - it is "sanity maintenance" (my job is all headspace, and the repairs and builds give something tactile). We all share this interest because we get a lot out of it. I'd wager that musi...

Awesome!
It's really cool that the vast majority of your signal chain is a result of a ton (or 907Kg) of your DIY expertise!
It has to feel really good to know that if you didn't make it, you brought it back from the dead (or at least limping along) to 110% functionality!

Interesting! That should result in some sort of cocked-wah sound.
Use that EQ setting right after a MIAB type distortion, and you just entered the first step to copping the Boston/Rockman tone!

Re: New (broken) pedal day!

An iconic use of the MXR 6 band is none other than Tom Scholz, he used one for creating his famous, pre-Rockman era tone.
Look at that EQ curve...

Re: New BOSS pedals!

I'm curious what you think of the models in the IR2, zentropa.
I was presuming "Twn" "Tweed" "Crunch" and "Brit" would be my jams, but no...
"Clean" and "Modded" sound/perform best for me. Funny, both are BOSS/Roland MDP creations.

Re: Thoughts on a good compressor??

This is an interesting thread. Makes me want to get one of the Strymons to try out optical compression. Guitarwise, I don't really use ever use compression outside of dirt/overdrive. My only guitar compressor is a 1980 MXR Dynacomp. It often does what I need, when I need it, when I'm playing clean a...
