As part of a pedal swap with fuzzbuzzfuzz I have come into possession of an almost dead HF-2 pedal. Symptoms are almost non-existent LED brightness, and no sound. Installed a battery and checked voltages. Battery terminal voltage dropped to 6VDC. The only way that can happen is excessive current bei...

Power is from a home built, star-connected, 7809 linear voltage regulator based power supply fed by a 12VDC nameplate wall wart. The power supply is in a Hammond box screwed to the back of the pedalboard. The wall wart actually gives out about 15VDC, so the power supply regulates nicely down to 8.9...

If you ever wondered what was inside a vintage PSA power supply
My old trusty PSA died. It turned out to be the cord. It looks like the date code is 1983, so this is one of the first PSA supplies ever made. The two halves of the case are glued together so it needs a bit of brutality to get it apart. Small hammer, sharp blade and an anvil. Yes, it makes it look b...

New bass day - my bass collection is "complete" (no really!)
Picked this is for a very reasonable price. Genuine Fender J bass, made in Korea. A beautiful instrument. Sounds great! At least as good as any MIM instrument I've played. Needed quite a bit of work. The biggest thing was the neck - 20+ years old and it had never had the truss rod adjusted so there ...
