Re: Isolated power supply
Bottom line - at 300mA the 7809 regulator is dissipating 1.5W which is enough to cause a temperature rise that pushes the 7809 into thermal shut-down. With high draw pedals (e.g. my Strymons) I am experiencing random drop-outs due to over-temperature cut-out of the regulators. Running pedals with m...

Re: Isolated power supply
UPDATE - Caline CP205 power supply After using a couple of these power supplies for a few months and dismantling one to see what is inside, I can report the following. The 8 outputs are most assuredly isolated. There is no ground connection between them, or back to the power pack. Each output is su...

Re: New amp day! Mesa Heartbreaker.
I finally decided to sell the Heartbreaker, so ran a bunch of tests on it to make sure everything weas working properly. It has always sounded good, but maybe a bit "thin" in places. Two of the toggle switches were malfunctioning, plus one of the input tubes was weak. Fixed all that and it is HUGE W...

Re: New pedals in the design phase
This design allows for anything from 100% clean boost to 100% overdrive, with infinite blend possibility. Like a Klon, but you have control over the clean blend instead of it being "built in" (using a dual gang pot) in the Klon.

New pedals in the design phase
I've been thinking a lot about overdrive lately. After building the new pedal boards (http://www.bossareaforum.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=10&start=210#p8903) I've had the ability to A/B many dirt pedals. I've been tweaking my BSD and looking at the design of the 32_OD. For me, there is an ultima...

DingoTone BSD mods
If you happen to have one kicking around and want to mess with it, I've been tweaking the values of some of the resistors. Mainly to tame the overdrive back so that it is only slightly dirty (essentially a booster) at the lowest gain. R15 swap the 10k resistor for 100k R18 swap the 15k for 33k R17 s...
