Very cool info! I think the theory that the PCB's were made in Taiwan but the rest of the pedal assembled in Japan is a sound theory. I have the same oddball, it seems! I posted on reddit a few years ago when I received it... (edited a bit) I purchased a Boss DS-1 from eBay, and it came from Japan. It was advertised as MIJ. Most things indicate it being MIJ: - Backplate says "Roland Japan" - ACA power supply with correct Japan era...
