Re: Electrolytic capacitors - a perspective

I think it also entirley depends the function the cap is doing in the circuit, power supply caps and also caps in control and power functions elsewhere are usually under more strain than caps in the audio path which may have been carefully selected. It also depends the time, resources and level of k...

Re: Synthesizer

Another one. This might be the most boring* synthesizer out of the Roland SH series, but it is mine! 8-) My brother picked it up for me. It was declared as defective, but overall the insturment works great. It is completely out of tune, the faders and keys have contact issues, but all of that will ...

Re: DM2 burnt smell

could be that someone powered it with a center positive supply then repaired it. But it should be fine with a center neg standard Boss psu which won't do any damage other than not lighting the led etc.

If the board looks OK you are probably fine.

Thanks for the reply!

So, snufkin, please send me a PM (e-mail notification doesn't work here, neither) regarding the BMR-5 support.
Will do!

Re: Synthesizer

Synthi is cool its an AKS I bought a trashed unit and luckily had and managed to track down the few missing parts, Robin who still runs EMS and hand builds Synthi was very kind in providing me with a modern chassis as the old one was broken, I then sourced lots of other spare parts from venerable sy...

Re: Boss Micro Rack System

Ah nice yes I like that trick, having two really opens up some fun possibilities, I run them with an Amdek DMK-100 analogue delay, a Boss BX-400 mixer and a massive Digitec (not Digiech) Big-Foot Digital delay which is like Digitec S-1024 rack modulation delay in a floor pedal format. I would quite ...

Re: BOSS Drum Machines

I have a couple of DR-110 one is modded for dinsync using the circuitbenders.co.uk kit and plays nice with my two 606s, together they make a nice fully featured analogue drum machine. Wouldn't mind individual outs but I think at that stage I would probably build clone voices as there isn't much spac...

Re: If you ever wondered what was inside a vintage PSA power supply

I have done this to a few PSA-240 also for the cold solder joints that sometime develop off the TX, they open after removing the foam "rods" that conceal the 4 standard screws
